Evidence Based Funding Resources

Governor Bruce Rauner signed into law Public Act 100-0465 or the Evidence-Based Funding for Student Success Act on August 31, 2017. This law enacts evidence-based funding (EBF) and comprehensively changes the way that school districts receive the bulk of state funds. EBF demonstrates new mindsets for understanding the relationship between equity, adequacy, and student outcomes.

This new funding formula relates to Peotone CUSD 207U's situation not because there is an expectation of increased state funding. It is applicable because each school district has a Local Capacity Target which specifies what level of local resources need to be supported by property taxes in order for the district to be adequately funded and Peotone falls short of meeting this level of funding with the current operating tax rate. Without the community committing resources at this level, it will be impossible to support an adequate level of education for the children of the district.
