Welcome! Peotone CUSD 207-U ’s Special Services Department is under the direction of Mr. Larry Piwnicki. Our department works closely with our district schools and S.M.I.L.E.S program to ensure that all students with special needs are receiving the support and instruction necessary to be successful within the school setting. Our Special Services department provides programs and services that meet state and federal requirements for students with specialized educational needs. These programs and services encompass a whole spectrum of individual educational programs (IEP) specifically designed for the individual student. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to meeting the needs of students with special needs! |
Mr. Larry Piwnicki Director of Special Services Mr. Larry Piwnicki has been the Director of Special Services since 2005. He has been in the field of Special Education since 1988. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University and Master’s in Educational Administration from Lewis University. He has been employed as a special education teacher and administrator in various districts and every grade level in Illinois over that time. Mr. Piwnicki has been involved in the various changes in Special Education that include: Inclusion, team teaching, and most recently the implementation of Response to Intervention or RtI in Peotone. |

Ms. Marie Ferrias Coordinator of Special Services Ms. Marie Ferrias has been the Coordinator of Special Services since 2005. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Olivet Nazarene University and Master’s in Educational Administration from Governors State University. She began her career in Special Education as a teacher at Peotone High School in 2000. Ms. Ferrias oversees the S.T.E.P./Operation Future program and assists with transition from students in 8th to 12th grade. |
