Welcome to the Peotone Elementary School office web page. Our school is the academic home to over 500 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Four. We look forward to working with you to make the school year a great success.
Our goal at Peotone Elementary School is to prepare each student to become a responsible, contributing member of society.
School staff believe that:
* All children can learn at their individual pace and in their individual learning styles.
* All children deserve the right to learn in a positive environment.
* Learning is sequential.
* Learning is a shared responsibility among staff, students, and parents.
To support these beliefs, the teachers agree that:
* Educators will strive to meet the needs of individuals by providing diverse opportunities for learning;
* High expectations for students and teachers will be maintained at all times.
In conjunction with our mission and core beliefs, we will be working diligently to improve the literacy achievement for all students. Utilizing district curriculum, which is aligned with the Illinois Learning Goals and Standards, the staff at Peotone Elementary School will use professional development opportunities and the analysis of assessment data to drive instruction of the Four Block Balanced Literacy Model with the integration of flexible small group guided reading. In addition, all students in Kindergarten through Fourth grade will have an opportunity to received enrichment instruction. Fourth grade students who demonstrate exceptional interest in a particular lesson, will also be given the opportunity to participate in a small group lesson expanding on the enrichment lesson provided in fourth grade classrooms.
The backbone of Peotone Elementary School is its PTO. They consistently go above and beyond in their efforts to help our children and school achieve success. Through their active participation they have provided us with books for our leveled library, assemblies, Field Day t-shirts and awards, and quality family events. We commend the efforts of the PTO and encourage additional participation from other members of our community.
We are anticipating an outstanding academic year, full of maintaining current traditions and the creation of new ones. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We also invite you to make arrangements to visit our school to learn about the achievement of our students.
Sincerely,
Ms. Tina Nicks
