A Message from the Principal
September, 2008
Welcome to Green Garden Elementary School! As one of three elementary schools in a unit school district, we are proud of the education that we are able to provide to our students, beginning with our Early Childhood program through the 12th grade at Peotone High School. Our school is home to students Pre-K through fourth grade in the northeast section of our district.
While we strive to provide a safe and effective physical and emotional environment for every child, our faculty and staff work together as a team to provide a solid educational foundation, as well. Our curriculum incorporates research-based strategies that apply “best practices” in education. The nurturing environment here at Green Garden Elementary promotes positive self-esteem for all learners. In addition to the core subjects, our students are taught by a dedicated staff of teachers with specialties in the areas of gifted education, reading, music, art, physical education and computers.
While we do not offer a daily hot lunch, our very active Parent Teacher Organization serves a hot lunch twice a month on Fridays. We are very proud of the parental involvement at our school. In addition to the wide variety of activities that the PTO sponsors, parents and community members are also encouraged to volunteer to assist our staff and become involved in the education of our children through a variety of ways throughout the school year.
I am especially proud to begin my service as Principal to Green Garden Elementary, as well as Wilton Center Elementary School as I begin my seventh year in the district. Since I travel daily between both schools, if you are unable to reach me at one location, please feel free to contact me at the other, should you have any questions about our school or our district.
The 2008/2009 school year promises to bring many positive and exciting activities and programs as we move as a district to a curriculum that is driven by research-based data that allows us to unlock the potential of every student!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tracy Hiller
