PTO News
We want to start off by “welcoming” you to Wilton Center Elementary! We look forward to getting to know you and your child/children throughout the year. We have some very fun and exciting events planned throughout the year and we appreciate your involvement for these events.
It has been decided that we will be having Hot Lunch twice a month during the year. This will be starting next Friday, September 9th, please look for the hot lunch form in your child’s backpack in the next few days. Hot Lunch does not include a drink so please send something other than pop with your child unless you purchased milk.  Please make checks to WILTON CENTER PTO.
*Fundraisers:
We will be selling the “World’s Finest” candy bars again this year. They sell for $1.00 and come in a 50 count box. Please let one of us know if you are interested in selling any. The money collected supports the Alumni Senior Scholarship we give at the end of the year to a fellow Wilton Center student. In the past years we were able to raise over $700!!!!!
Information will be going home in the next few weeks about putting together a cookbook from the families and staff. So please start thinking about what recipe you’ll send in. Please keep in mind that your mother’s, grandmother’s, aunt’s, or sister’s favorite recipe is welcome too, so please feel free to send in more than one!! Cookbooks will be for sale during Parent-Teacher Conferences and Santa’s Sleigh. (THE PERFECT GIFT FOR YOUR LOVED ONES)
Your Little Caesar’s packet will be coming home on October 7th. This will be our 2nd largest fundraiser this year so we ask for everyone’s participation in making this a success!!
*Mark your calendars!
Grandparents Day is planned for Friday, September 23rd. Mrs. Hiller and our wonderful teachers are planning some “fun” activities for the children and their grandparents. More information will be sent home.
Our first PTO meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 2:30pm. Please join us as we discuss upcoming events.  Please remember to send a note with your child to school if they are staying after school during the meeting.
*Upcoming events
On Friday, October 7th, Wilton Center will be participating in the Homecoming Parade in Peotone at 3:30pm. We will be sending home permission slips and asking for candy donations.
During a meeting with Mrs. Hiller we decided to have an ALL-DAY event for the children rather than having a 45 minute party on the 31st, which is also an early release day. So on Friday, October 28th, our 2nd Annual FALL FEST is in the works, with an all-day event including a hayrack ride, apple-picking and other fun fall activities that all the children will enjoy.  Please keep in mind that Halloween costumes will not be a part of this event.  Instead, the fun will continue into the evening with a Halloween Night filled with games and activities; the children are encouraged to dress in their costumes. The Halloween Night will be from 6-8pm in the gym. More information will be sent home at a later date.
That’s it for now, but if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact one of us. Thanks again and we look forward to a great year and working together to enhance our children’s educational experience!
Sincerely,
The Wilton Center PTO
Dawn Love, Nancy Kellner, Jody Thatcher, &  Renee Jellema
