Welcome from the Principal
The first quarter is well underway with many activities occurring within the Peotone Junior High School day. The students have become well acquainted with their routines from a day to day basis. We have been working diligently to have everything run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
On the academic side of school, we have approached and past the mid-term of the first quarter. An electronic voice message was sent home to let all parents know of the date. In that message, it was strongly encouraged for all parents to utilize the Parent Portal to access their student's grades. We are in the middle of trying not to send home progress reports in an effort to save on resources and money. The eighth grade students were given the EXPLORE Test which is part of ACT at Peotone High School. This is a unique experience for our eighth grade students as they are able to experience high school life for a period of time. We are currently in the middle of our
Fall AIMSweb Testing with all students. It seems the end of the first quarter is right around the corner. The date is Friday, October 14 with report cards being sent home on Tuesday, October 18.
Many activities have been active at the beginning of the school year. Right now, our yearbook club is working at taking pictures and creating pages for the yearbook. The speech club is preparing for the IESA competition. The media center is alive and being utilized by all the students. Girls Basketball is off to a good start as well as the cheerleaders performing at the games. The cross country runners are nearing the end of their season. The PBIS incentive program has had their first reward day with Popsicles in the Park. The Pals program is infusing the school with good role models and mentors between students.
There has been a major project going on the past two weeks in Peotone Junior High School. Through the Junior High Fundraiser and the Peotone Education Foundation we have purchased 14 LCD Projectors for the classrooms. Thank you to everyone in the community for working with us during the fundraiser and to the Education Foundation for their help in purchasing six of the projectors. With all of these projectors for the classrooms, someone had to install them. Thank you to our maintenance department, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Schwartz, and Mr. Bob Klipp for installing them and running all of the electricity for them. Also, a thank you goes out to Ms. Brenda Eberle for connecting them to the computers and installing any software that is needed. All of this was done above and beyond these
individuals normal work day.
We are looking forward to a great school year. Please feel free to stop by or contact me with any questions, concerns, or positive thoughts about Peotone Junior High School.
Sincerely,
Scott K Wenzel
