STUDENT COUNCIL
Brief description of club/activity:
The purpose of student council is to:
develop positive attitudes and to practice good citizenship;
promote harmonious relations throughout the entire school;
improve student/faculty relationships;
improve school morale and general welfare;
plan special events or projects.
Eligibility Requirements:
Meets: Every Wednesday, during the school year @ 7:45 a.m. in the Auditorium (these meetings are mandatory—if 3 are missed the member will be replaced); six to eight summer meetings (June through August) and occasional special meetings throughout the year.
Fees: $10 - $20 fee for dance refreshments
Procedure for joining: Any student wishing to run for PHS Student Council election must attend the Candidates Petition meeting held in the spring before the school day starts, they will pick up their petition at that time. The petition must be signed by 25 members of the candidates graduating class and turned in by the specified due date, at that time the candidates name will be added to the ballot. The entire student body will have the opportunity to cast ballots for their graduating class candidates.
Membership Limit: The council is made up of nine seniors; nine juniors; seven sophomores and seven freshmen.
