Thank you for taking a moment to visit our website to learn more about Green Garden Elementary School. Our school educates approximately 165 students in Kindergarten through fourth grade and is a great place for students to learn and grow both academically and socially in a fun and safe setting. We are proud of the excellence, passion and commitment of our 28 full and part-time teaching and support staff. As a community of teachers, support staff, students and parents, we are all working together to continue the excellence at Green Garden Elementary!
Our student leadership committees are forming and will be meeting soon to begin planning events for the year. In their second year, the overall mission of the teams is to bring an awareness of the world outside of our school to our students. With awareness, it is our hope, comes understanding and a desire to help make the world a better place. The three teams each have a different focus: Community Service, Recycling and the Environment, and School Spirit. Students from every classroom will be a part of the planning and implementing of programs and activities throughout the school year.
We are blessed with a generous and very active PTO who work closely with the staff to bring a variety of educational and social events to our students. Through another generous gift this year, our PTO funded the purchase of document cameras for every classroom. These document cameras take our SMARTBoards to a new level by allowing images to be projected onto the screen. Worksheets, science experiements and demonstrations can be viewed on the big screen so that all students have a "front row seat"!
While each of these activities enhance the learning environment for our students, our number one priority is to provide a quality education for our students in a safe and nurturing environment. Student achievement is our goal and it is through a collaborative effort between our teachers, support staff, district personnel, parents and community that we are able to accomplish that! I am pleased to announce that this year, we offer Reading Recovery to our first grade students who need one to one instruction. Our reading improvement program is still in place where the curriculum includes Wilson Fundations, Wilson Just Words, the Wilson Reading System and Read Naturally. We continue to test all of our students three times a year using AimsWeb. These tests are administered
as part of our district Response to Intervention (RtI) plan. In addition to reading support, Music, Art, Physical Education and Computer Instruction are also part of our curriculum.
Please stop in and visit us – we are proud of our students and our school! Open communication is essential to the success of our students and ultimately, our school. I also encourage communication by phone or email:
Working together, we can achieve extraordinary feats!
