Please read the following information carefully, as it outlines the process for establishing our S.M.I.L.E.S. classes for next year.
Preschool for All Grant-based Students:
- We have submitted the annual application for Preschool for All grant funding. Unfortunately, the Illinois State Board of Education has stated that school districts will not know about the receipt of grant funding until the middle of August. Because we have annually received grant funding, we are very hopeful that we will receive funding again, but must plan accordingly until we hear differently.
- As of the date of this memo, our program will only be able to serve children who receive special services and have IEP’s, and those whose parents pay tuition.
- Families will be notified immediately should we receive grant funding.
Students who Receive Special Services and have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- All returning students, and new students, will have priority placement in the S.M.I.L.E.S. program. Please complete the enrollment process as noted in the letter you received earlier in May.
- Parents of returning students should plan to complete online enrollment for the upcoming school year.
- Parents of any new students in this category will need to complete the enrollment process with school office staff.
Tuition-Based Students
- The tuition amount for the 2011-2012 school year is $275.00 per month
- If no grant funding is received, we will have plenty of tuition based placements available.
- If we receive grant funding, we will only be able to serve grant based students and students receiving special services. The reason for this is due to specific stipulations within the language of the grant regarding the number of at-risk students who must be served in order for us to receive funding.
- With that in mind, if you are interested in putting your name on a placement list, please complete the following:
- Submit a check for $275.00 to the district office by August 1, 2011. You will need to include your child’s name, birth date, and your home address. If we find that we are unable to accept tuition based placements, or if your child qualifies for the grant, you will be reimbursed. Checks should be made out to Peotone Schools.
